Electrical
Contractor’s Case Study
Wayne first learned of MLJ
Coaching International and
Trade-Contractors' Business Strategies Training , from attending
a day-long introductory T-C BS workshop,
sponsored by The Ontario Electrical
League. Wayne was introduced to options
to the way he was currently running
his business.
Wayne walked out of that workshop
with renewed hope. Within a couple
of weeks he reflected more on his
business than he had in the entire
15 years he had been in business.
Wayne said he was no longer willing
to just "put (his) head down
and plough through the day - day after
day."
It was a difficult decision for Wayne
to make the investment in the year-long
program because he didn't even know
what professional coaching was: arguably,
the most powerful component of the
training/coaching program. Professional
coaching is the component that supports
us and helps hold us accountable in
taking the action necessary to follow
through on the ideas that come to
mind during the 4 training sessions
throughout the year.
Wayne enrolled in the program www.tradecontractorsbusinessstrategiestraining.com
because he was afraid of what the
end result may be of keeping his head
down, ploughing through each day.
Reflecting, at the end of the one-year
T-C BS program, Wayne saw what could
have happened had he not dared to
enrol.
He could have been totally burnt
out; and his group of employees could
have been unravelling at the seams,
which could have cost him dearly had
the union paid them a visit.
And who knows what else could have
happened, because the "snow-ball
effect" would most definitely
have come into play, right?
Reflecting on this, Wayne feels that
it was possible, had he continued
to keep his head down, to have eventually
had nothing left and he could have
found himself throwing in the towel.
Is this the
worst-case scenario? Maybe
... but a possible one, nonetheless.
Wayne's biggest benefit of actively
participating in Trade-Contractors' Business Strategies Training is the constant consciousness
whereby he avoids putting things off
due to 'being too busy'; things like
- improving the less-than-ideal
administrative assistant situation
by hiring a full-time assistant
and training her properly right
from the start;
- hiring an estimator and ensuring
he capitalizes on this investment;
- holding regular staff meetings;
- hiring more staff in the field
to keep up with the new projects
being acquired;
- staying-on-task and holding himself
accountable to take consistent and
persistent action in order to turn
his ideas into his desired results.
Thanks to Wayne's having taken that
leap of faith and making the financial
investment in Ferguson Electric, and
in his, his family's and his staff's
personal lives, Wayne's enjoying:
- an estimator who, despite being
a sizable investment for the company,
may have already … in just
6 months of being there …
landed an account that will give
Ferguson Electric a healthy ROI
(Return on Investment) in hiring
the estimator;
- a full-time administrative assistant
who now relieves Wayne of so many
little tasks that were simply eating
away his hours … and his days;
- many more vacations in 1 year
than he thought possible. In fact,
it was while Wayne was enjoying
his 3rd vacation in as many months
that the new estimator bid on this
job that Wayne would never have
even considered, were he still working
alone on his business. Talk about
The T-C BS delivering on its promise!
- a better leader … in himself
… leading Ferguson Electric
and its staff into new frontiers,
which were only ever dreamt of before,
thanks to having come to appreciate
the true value of his time!
To hear it straight
from the horse's mouth, why not give
Wayne a call?
