Service Contracting Company Case Study
Larry and Holly, husband and wife
partners in a blossoming service contracting
company, attended an introductory
workshop for Trade-Contractors' Business Strategies Training
. What they learned there
about improving their business left
them wanting more knowledge …
and not only additional knowledge
but support in acting on their ideas
and implementing the changes they
saw necessary for getting the results.
Working with MLJ Coaching
International, Evertemp Inc. has:
- incorporated regular business
development planning time;
- incorporated in-house staff training
and communication meetings;
- created its first staffing policy;
and
- gained a lot of time thanks to
making big changes in the use of
technological tools.
It was difficult for Larry &
Holly to take a “real”
vacation, but with the support of
a business coach they started small
… and inside of one year, with
lots of practice taking long and longer
weekends and a week-at-a-time, built
up to taking the cruise they’d
only ever dreamt of before. After
only 9 months of coaching support,
Larry noted how after being “totally”
away from the business for a whole
week, it only took him 15 minutes
to iron out all of the wrinkles that
came up in his absence.
More importantly, Larry noticed how,
on his return from a pleasant, restful
2-week vacation to find that a serious
problem had occurred in his absence,
he didn’t blow up or fly off
the handle like many of us do when
we’re already stressed to the
max.
Instead, from having been looking
at all areas of his business through
a magnifying glass, with his professional
business coach, he wasn’t so
surprised with what had happened.
He learned of it, dealt with it and
moved on.
The icing on the cake may be that
when Larry and Holly first looked
at their 3-year vision the biggest
component was taking the business
out of their home and into the city.
When Evertemp first hired their business
success coach Larry’s idea of
when that would happen was in 5 years.
13 months after their first coaching
session, however, they took possession
of their commercial premises in the
city.
Now, time management’s become
the biggest issue (as it is for every
single client of MLJCI). Organizing
the renovations of Evertemp Inc.’s
new premises into an already full
agenda is a challenge! Priorities,
blocking time and delegation are the
focal points in today’s coaching
sessions.
