Financial Consultant Case Study Following his studies at RMC, Dan MacWhirter had a 10-year career as a General Manager in McDonalds in five Kingston stores, leading a staff of 600 generating $10 million/year in sales. He then managed a number of Canada Trust branches, spending 6 years in Ottawa and 12 in Kingston. Through his career with Canada Trust and subsequently TD Canada Trust, Dan's received recognition for his focus on providing exemplary customer service. Dan's passion in life is helping others. He has demonstrated this passion through his active involvement with Rotary for over 18 years and for making a difference in the lives of his clients.
In his quest for a successful career and a fun life, which includes two young children and his wife, Dan left the bank and found the career which feeds his need to help others, resulting in helping himself. After a short time as a consultant, however, accepting the position as Divisional Director at Investors Group in Kingston, with his background, was a logical move. He is able to help others embark on a career that satisfies their need to help people. Being a manager again, however, has its challenges. How can he regain that balance between a successful career and a fun personal and family life, including coaching competitive basketball, taking his teams to higher levels and many tournaments? Dan has learned much from the many leaders he's had in his careers. These leaders know that by helping Dan succeed, they succeed. Dan uses many of these principles in helping his recruits and consultants succeed. With a success coach, however, Dan helps himself succeed.
