You know how many people know there's more to life than this, but do little about finding out what it is? They feel stuck and unable to get to the next level, yet are reluctant to seek help. Many see a gloomy financial picture month-after-month, yet feel powerless to change it. |
 |
You know how many people feel overwhelmed with the demands being made on their time, with no time for themselves? Many feel exhausted, listening to complaining from everyone around them... and then realize that they, too, are one of the complainers. |
Well, 20+ years ago, on a bright Saturday afternoon on Labour Day weekend in 1986, my life changed drastically. I belonged to that group I just described above. I had a nice life...by society's standards... as do most everyone who just popped into your mind when I was describing them.
On that fateful day 2 decades ago I was cycling with my older daughter, Johnna, who was then but 7 years old. Suddenly, I fell off my bike…landing on my head. This was in the day before anyone wore helmets, especially in the countryside. The next thing I remember was 3 days later when my employer was squeezing my hand...which hurt like heck. (Looking closely you can still see those spots on my hand that were like holes...from the gravel, I suppose, that had been dug out by the doctors.)
I have no idea what my employer had said to me…whether I hadn't understood him or just don't remember...but I remember the feeling of pain. It was the first pain I'd felt since that moment of hitting my head 3 days earlier...soon to be followed by more and different pain. After awakening from the coma, it still took time for me to regain my capacities, such as walking, speaking...and even thinking.
Once I was again able to think and to reason, I came to the stunning realization of
- how close I'd been to death
- and how much I hadn't yet done with my life.
It was a 2-year healing process to more-or-less complete recovery from this head injury and the coma, but that didn't stop me. I put all the dreams I had at that time onto a list and got started at bringing those dreams down to earth and turning those dreams into reality! Within months I learned to alpine ski. I've since enjoyed 20+ years as an avid skier. Both my children were raised with skiing as a natural part of their lives.
The more I dream, the more dreams I realize. The more dreams I turn into reality, the bigger the dreams get and the more intense the joy is from realizing my dreams. The result of realizing these dreams is that I now live in a state of gratitude. I was encouraging a client just yesterday to schedule 5 to 15 minutes every day to just write down everything that comes to mind for which she is grateful. It's a simple exercise in learning how to be grateful. Eventually, we become grateful for everything...every day.
By the early '90s I took up travelling again. I had done some prior to the coma, but not a lot...by my standards, at any rate.
By 1995, I realized that I had reached "the glass ceiling" in my position as a legal assistant, so I gave my employer 3 years' notice of my departure (no, it had nothing to do with him hurting my hand!). At the age of 39 I went into early, albeit temporary, retirement.
With everything that would fit inside my 4-door Saturn and my bike strapped onto the trunk, I moved to Quebec to become bilingual. I'd already learned before this that the only thing that stops us from having precisely what we want is...ourselves! So, within days of arriving at a friend's parents' place, which parents have now become my dear friends, I saw exactly what I "wanted" or needed to reach my goal of being bilingual in French. Within 3 days I met the person who would be the most instrumental in my realizing that dream. Within four months the people with whom I first stayed in Quebec were telling me they were amazed that I had become bilingual in such a short time. But why wouldn't I have? I was living a dream! I was "working" my passion.
After 10 months in Quebec, having one exciting experience after another, my younger daughter, a friend of hers and I drove to Mexico to visit my older daughter who was living there at the time. While I was there I became quite competent in yet a 3rd language.
I've since lived in two other continents; teaching English in South Korea and then living in Belgium. It was while living in Belgium that I happened upon professional coaching. For some years my (now) husband was asking me what I would do should we move to his country one day. I would rack my brain and always respond with: "I can't tell you today, but I know that when the time comes I will know."
When I learned of Professional Coaching from a Life Coach I met one day in Belgium, I just knew that this is what I would be doing for the rest of my life...in my husband's country, in my country, in any country.
People in every country want to have better results, whether for their own personal lives or their businesses, which are such a part of their personal lives. As a result of waking up from that coma in 1986 and seeing how close to death I'd come without having fully enjoyed life the way I wanted to, every dream I now have I turn into reality.
Over time I've created a system for turning my dreams into reality...for turning my ideas into my desired results, and I still use it today. The list would be extensive of the dreams I've realized, since that fateful day, but THE BIGGEST of my realized dreams is being able to...
DEDICATE THE REST OF MY LIFE to helping others, like you,
TURN YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY.
From viewing the rest of my website, you may believe that I've dedicated my life to helping entrepreneurs improve their businesses. While this may be true, who works in those businesses? In order to dedicate my life to being a Professional Coach full-time, I needed to market my services in a way that would result in earning sufficient income to pay my way.
Individual people have great difficulty investing in themselves. How about you? How much are you worth...in dollars and cents? For how many more years do you count on being alive? If you were to take the amount of the investment for a 6-month coaching program and divide it by the number of months remaining in your lifetime, what is the actual monthly investment? Very little, I know. Eg. $15/month if you only live another 20 years. Are you worth that?
Is your life worth investing 50¢ a day for the next 20 years? On what do you spend 50¢ a day right now? Compare the value of that or those items to the quality of your life. But here's an amazing fact: Most people who have taken that leap of faith...in themselves...and have made the investment in themselves, have gone on to reap a great financial ROI on this 50¢/day or less investment in themselves. (ROI = Return on Investment)
For example, there's Lisa Tugnette who first said:

"I recently retained Lynne as my success coach and after only 4 sessions, I'm already seeing and feeling a positive
difference. One of my challenges we are focusing on is TIME MANAGEMENT. I am already more consciously aware
of how I am using my time, especially in my evenings and weekends. I was feeling like I'm spinning my wheels,
getting a whole lot of nothing done, then left feeling overwhelmed and frustrated. Lynne makes ME accountable to ME,
and in return, I'm seeing and feeling the results and being so much more productive while balancing ME time!
I look forward to every Monday morning now, because I know I will be having my coaching session with Lynne,
and what better way to tackle my upcoming week!"
...and then about four months after our coaching relationship had finished, Lisa sent me an e-mail saying:
"Lynne, as I walked up the stairs towards the microphone to
speak, I was thinking back to the first day you and I spoke,
when you asked me to close my eyes, and asked me to go forward
1 year in time. "What did I see?" you asked. I said I was speaking
in front of hundreds of people, and as I was speaking they listened
intently with tears in their eyes. That's exactly what happened
— for real. The audience was hanging on every word. I
knew I had captured their hearts. I realized that this was that
"very moment", and it gave me strength to speak with everything
I had, applying all of the skills I had learned, all weaved
together into this 4-minute speech.
What an empowering feeling going from fear to freedom!"

Lisa will soon, I am certain, give her notice to her employers as her desired results are coming to
fruition day after day after day. While Lisa is delighted with the improved quality of her life,
within no time Lisa will have also recuperated the amount of her financial investment in herself...
and will continue to get a financial return on that initial investment many, many times over.
There's no end to the financial return this young woman will receive from that initial investment
in herself through Life Coaching. See for yourself — www.ReflectionsofaWoman.com
Danielle, whose dream/goal was a "dream job," found herself in the chair of her dream job within 2 weeks of starting coaching. Within a couple of months' coaching on shortening the learning curve in this "dream" job, Danielle saw that it wasn't the job she believed she was getting. Coaching on that very point, she became even clearer on precisely what her "dream job" looked like and what she needed to do to get it. She informed her employer that she wouldn't be staying on and why. This resulted in a new job description with greater responsibilities for Danielle, precisely what she was looking for, at a higher level of pay. Within mere months, Danielle would have recuperated the investment she made in herself through coaching. She may work for some 10-15 more years, and maybe in an even higher position. You can do the math. For how many more months will Danielle be receiving this increased salary?
Here's what Danielle says:
Both of these courageous women took the plunge to invest in themselves, never knowing what their
dreams would bring in the way of financial return on their investment (ROI).
And then there's another woman who hired me to help her attain peace in her workplace.
Within a couple of weeks neither her manager nor her workplace was mentioned again in our sessions.
At about the 5-month mark, I was humbled when she told me that she was surprised to learn that
she actually loved her husband again. Here's what else she says:

| "Before working with Lynne, it was as though
my life's journey was a rocky path consisting of potholes, covered
in debris and hidden landmines. I had no options but to stumble
into, trip over and explode everything I came across.
It was an exhausting and very unsatisfying journey; some days
good, some days bad. The low times seemed to be the norm and
the good ones an accident. I did not know what was wrong, and
I sure did not know how to fix it. Through the years, I had
tried other kinds of help but none gave me the practical tools
leading to immediate relief from my pain the way Lynne has.
Lynne has the skills to get
to the heart of a matter in no time. I could almost see my
horizons widening as we spoke. Through our discussions and
my assignments, I learned how to let go, embrace, think outside
of my own box and become energized. I don't feel trapped by
circumstances now; Lynne has helped me see people, problem-situations
and myself through a different filter. As my coach, Lynne
has given me the tools to clear and prepare my path, enjoy
my journey and smile."
